My philosophy stems from the centuries old humanistic doctrine of painting "Ut Pictura Poesis" (as painting, so is poetry). This approach recognizes the similarity between the two disciplines. They both find beauty in ordinary subject matter while reflecting the human condition. In short, painting is as noble as any human action because it imitates human action in nature.
We're made so that we love First when we see them painted, things we have passed perhaps a hundred times, Nor care to see; And so they are better, Painted Better to us, which is the same thing - Robert Browning "Fra Lippo Lippi" 1855
